Adam Jones and Alex Grey met and simply started spitting out ideas, the characters seen here represent Alex Greys interpretation of the song, some symbols are evident: The tool of destruction is the tentacled ball, the mirror representing self reflection and that death is everywhere around is and in us at all times, not in some distant land or on tv. You are so right about him not being high at this performance. A really good example of someone doing acid during a performance would be Joe Cocker singing "little help from my friends" at woodstock. He said he was tripping, and admitted it was hard. It does heighten certain parts of your brain but the hardest part is not knowing that all around you are feeling the same way. I dont know why he didnt sing that last part. but I would think doing multiple shows on the road, singing the way he does, his vocal chords were most likely strained, fatigued or maybe he just had a soar throat. I was loving EVERY moment of this until the last vocal part where Maynard hits his high powerful notes...and he does nothing, he throws his hands in the air like he's juggling. I understand that it takes a lot to pull it off and that throughout the entire song he does an excellent job...but IMO I thought that was way unprofessional, he wasn't moving much so he couldn't be out of breath apart from the mask he's wearing...so I dunno. People pay to see you perform...so give it to them :|
