I had thought the same thing, too, and I agree that despite what's been said about the "Black Box" having corrected lyrics, there are still a lot of mistakes on it. Now, I have the original inner sleeve of SBS as well (though that's not perfect either -- the opening line to SBS is "I've seen right through distorted eyes," not "I've seen life through distorted eyes.") But if you can explain to me how "I build, you pay" makes sense, I'd appreciate it. I've been trying to figure that out.

Geezer did write (and Ozzy sang) "I build, you pay", which makes the most sense. Those are the lyrics on the original inner sleeve of the album. The lyrics that came with the albums were always correct, unlike the lyrics that came with the "Black Box" box set.

Interestingly, you favor my understanding of the final line: "Spiral City Architect, I build you PLAY." Most of the published lyric sheets indicate instead, "I build, you pay." It's difficult to make out which one Ozzy's singing, but "pay" doesn't seem to go contextually with the verses in this stanza or the chorus (which refer in a positive light to the spiral architect). When we say "No playback" in reference to D'espairsRay, we should at least make clear the fact that they do indeed use prerecorded material. Harmonies and vocals that overlap, synthesizers, and extra guitars are all on a backing track, which is all standard procedure for most bands. However, Hizumi's main vocal is completely real. He used pitch correction on the Liquidize DVD, but uses far less of it on this DVD, and he still sounds pretty darn good.
