This guy must be blind, or just likes to kiss HTC's ass. You can clearly see that the HD suffers from the same framerate issues during video playback as the diamond and pro (i own a diamond). But that's not surprising since it has the same Qualcomm chipset as the diamond and pro.

if the software developer takes ages to fix a bug that a end user IT dept can find and fix in a shorter time then that software is extremely simple and of no use. Proper software is planned and engineered so well that without engineering diagrams and the team who built it and are trained to maintain it is impossible to find a bug faster and resolve it properly.

most of people misunderstand these "open source" thing. even if you aren't a programmer, you can benefit from it, because everybody can modify the source code. bugs can be fixed more quickly, the new relases are more frequent, and etc. and if you have a problem, you don't have to rely on a company's tech support. anyone who knows the program's source can help you. whoah, maybe i become too RMS-ish :DD

We need an overhaul of IP law, a rejection of the idea of draconian DRM, a more educated population which would choose 'free' software alternatives. Not enough room here for an adequate response. Suffice to say we do very well via value added services: our clients are happy to pay well for good service and save on software costs. We contribute and provide feedback to the community and we benefit from that also. On hardware, sure you could open source hardware design and still charge for the product, no one has a problem with charging for something that clearly can't be made for free.

It's good that this is here, but if you can, do yourself a favor: DON'T WATCH IT. Run the actual demo itself on a modern computer with a good GFX card and a good set of speakers. IMHO this is the best demo that has ever been created. It helped me through some tough times. Long way from copperbars and sine scrollers, I tell you what.

Yes the quality isn't very good. Sorry about that. This was captured from a wmv-stream that one finnish cable operator streamed from assembly on their site. Not to mention the stream was filmed from the screen. Assembly crew should really but more effort on the streaming next time. In 07 threir own live stream from the party was very unstable. And why they record the live video by camcorder and stream that. Why can't they stream the video from the line directly?

Linux! E' di gran lunga migliore di Windows sia in prestazioni che in sicurezza (non esistono virus per Linux!)... ed è gratuito! L'unico aspetto negativo è che molti programmi li fanno compatibili solo con windows, ma ormai tutti i programmi più popolari hanno anche una versione per Linux, e anche questi programmi in Linux sono liberi! (mentre invece in windows pagheresti anche quelli!) ad esempio OpenOffice è la versione libera di Office ;)

I am going to slit AT&T's throat if they are the only ones to get the Xperia. Alltel better get it! Yes you can let the battery indicator show on the taskbar but you will have to sacrifice the clock . Go to start > Settings > System > Clock & alarms > more . Uncheck the 'Display the clock on the title bar ...' Go to the today screen and voila !

I've used Pinnacle software plenty, and I have to say that I would NEVER recommend Pinnacle, ever. The hardware works pretty well and it gets the job done, but the software is very poorly designed. Using Pinnacle Studio alone uses up more system resources than running Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop all at once. TVCenterPro stops working with no warning constantly. Unfortunately, you HAVE to use Pinnacle software to use most of their hardware.

It depends on your computer hardware and encode settings (bit-rate, de-interlace, etc). H.264 requires a lot of CPU, so it can take a while. On a decent dualcore box, I'd expect the encode to take 35 minutes to an hour.

If a Linux user wants to use HandBrake and doesn't use a Debian system, they could be in for quite a hassle (since extracting the .deb and placing the files where they needed to be didn't work for me). All right, I tried it. Not too pleased. Compiling it is a huge pain, since the README doesn't list all the dependencies, and you can't run ./configure to check them. make runs configure, but it just ignores what it doesn't see, and then you have to dig through gcc errors to figure out what went wrong. Finally got it up and running, and it turns out the "Xbox360" settings are not what my Xbox360 can play. Maybe it's time I learn to bang on ffmpeg and mencoder directly?

I heard good things about this, and went to try it when I still ran Archlinux. Only packaged version was CLI-only. I'm back to openSUSE and and now I don't see it packaged at all. Guess it's time to fire up GCC and see what all the hype is about.

The Windows version works just fine for me .. don't be afraid to jump on it. Seriously it works just fine. Yeah the UI might be a bit clunky but it still works. I'm running a core 2 quad Q6600 overclocked to 3.5Ghz and 4GB's of RAM ..In conclusion, the latest version of Handbrake works great on Vista .. I'm running Vista Home Premium X64 and Handbrake works awesome!

I have PhotoShop (PS), I'm a student so you get a discount of around over a 1/3 of the original price. Getting it for free is illegal, however it is worth the cost if you think how much work has been put into it lol. Gimp is pretty similar to PS, some people alter the menus and commands to be on close par of PS so that they can follow the Tuts. I'm trying to get CS3 (latest version for PS). Gimp crashes a lot though with some cases, so be careful to save your work.

Yeah, it's good info, I suppose.. for newbies. CNet is not really on the cutting edge of GPL software, and their selections show it. But anything we can do to get people started along the GPL path is a good path. So for that, I say Kudos, poster!

I am looking for something that lets you see ips connected to any website etc, youtube, google and everything else, then i want the software to allow me to connect to that ip address to see there cam or to even see the desktop with or without there permission with no password or username, bur it wont be illegal because you are just viewing like you would with a website.

When people come in for PC trouble Many have probs with Symantic, Defender, McAffe etc. Ive serviced allot of computers over the years & I noticed in my experience the best Viral programs Ive used are AVG & Avast. Their low memory managed. & have good search tracing for issues like this. NOte: I.E 7.0 is 80% more at risk for scripted Viruses/ Torgys so forth: AVG & avast rids them even Security Toolbar 3.1, SpyBot Search & Destroy=Fake

AVG just roxxxx! i was using nod32 earliar, my computer was fine.. but sometime it crashes and shutdown's all time after about an hour. Then i changed my anti virus into Avg and gave a scan.. there my probs all gone!! 74 viruses detected when NOD32 didn't. Thats all because of AVG's new v8.0 One advantage of AVG is, Avg is always free while all other anti-virus' needs keygens,serial,fixes and all junk stuff which may cause problems. and also keygens with .exe extentions are always virus!!
