True Word Rick. This video was made for American audience. So they left a lot of mystic in it. Like the expression "the electron decides to". Otherwise american daddys won't allow their children to watch it anymore. "god blabla" It is just the way of observation that interferes with the experiment (wiki). To "see" an electron you have to interact with it by putting something in its way or shooting another particle at it. This is actually pretty simple, you have to understand that quantum mechanics behave based on pseudo random chaos waves, which unpredictably manipulate spacetime. The electrons fall into place based on probability. Theres a chance that each band will be the resultant. Besides by firing them one at a time they were just increasing the distance between the electrons. Cant really explain the last part though, maybe the observer's mass stole the negative magnetic waves, leaving only matter.

i always wondered what would happen if the observer would be a high tech recorder which would self explode (or something) after recording, without the possibility of men ever watching it. would it show a regular pattern or a wave pattern? if it would show a wave pattern that would mean human observation causes the past to be changed. only the possibility of anybody to observe it would cause regular patterns. can somebody tell me if this experiment has been done before?

your comment, that's stupid. electron does not create light. In fact, they are something similar: Electromagnetic waves. It's pretty hard to explain in a YouTube-comment but electron is not some tiny ball but rather a 'part of the 4-dimension space' where a certain wave's characteristics are valid most(90%) of the time. When you talk about electrons as particles or as waves, you simply focus on different qualities of the same thing. The trick is that electrons are both waves AND particles at the same time. The problem is that we have a concept of particles that they are little balls orbiting around each other. So we cannot really 'imagine' them being waves. When using 3 slits, the phenomenon is the same, only the maths differ (thus, the brightness of the various lines).

This means the probabilities decrease with a larger size and like the electron gun it behaves more like a particle than a wave of light, as can be observed in the one slit experiment. Hrmm, I'm replying a bit late. Ya know, I've had 4 semesters of quantum (including 2 grad courses) and am presently studying quantum field theory. I'm more than aware it's been tested thoroughly. The interpretation of the mathematics, however, is far - FAR - from being confirmed. The copenhagen interpretation is very problematic. What collapses our wave function? What mechanism collapses wave functions? Many worlds gets around this problem, but is kind of silly.

Regarding your question on dark matter, I'm a little skeptical on the stuff myself. I'm majoring in astrphysics and the biggest evideance of dark matter is the fact that the rotation galaxies and the expansion of our universe is happening in a non-newtonian way. So scientists say the reason of this is it's being affected by a kind of matter that is completely undetectable. I feel there are just fundimental physics we don't know about yet instead of dark matter existing; but I could be wrong.

Absolutely oustanding Pete Townshend solo song. Probably his best. Perhaps only John Lennon can deal with the emotional pain associated with aging and life stages in the honest and candid fashion that Townshend does here. When he profoundly states--"No one quite respects the flame like the fool that has been badly burned" he speaks volumes. Great vocals combined with Phil Collins'powerhouse drumming make this performance one to remember.

That's down to Phil's basic skill. I'm not saying the performance is bad. I'm just regretful because I feel it could've been so much better. When he knows a piece he's an incredibly inventive, yet rocksteady drummer. To be fair to the man, though, this is from the days when both Genesis and his solo career had taken off into the atmosphere in terms of popularity. Talk about being busy!
