In Spore you "evolve" creatures by "intelligently designing" them, so in that sense, Spore does feature "evolution". The version of intelligent design that you reference and that has failed to make it into public schools is essentially creationism, which states that there was no evolution and life began in its current form. Spore's main gameplay feature can be described with the broad definition of "evolution", but not the specific one you clearly plucked from Darwin's theory of evolution.

The game doesn't have evolution, though. Evolution is the survival of the fittest. Evolution is an agonizingly slow process, not something growing gigantic horns between one generation and the next. Don't get me wrong, I love Spore, but it bothers me to no end that it claims intelligent design to be evolution.

Right on! It also bothers me that the creature stage is far more about what the player thinks is cool than what helps the species survive. To me it's a little ridiculous that halfway through you can sell all your parts and completely change your creature.

I love this guys dice. I just wish they were easier to come by. They roll great and they do indeed stop short just like the video. Once I got them I never rolled any of my huge big bag of dice again. I really only have two complaints about my dice 1) The paint came off the d20's very quickly. They were all gem style. 2) My green gem d20 had a bubble in it. Now I love'em so much I'd just buy another green d20, but good luck finding one locally.

Oh wow, I knew there was something different about this one set I have! A couple of Christmases back, I received an emerald set as an anonymous gift. They've been some of the best-rolling dice I've ever had. He's not kidding about the luster, either; they're shiny enough to kill a ferret with glee. yeah it does. but the movie came out in 1998 and went straight to DVD because the bosses did not think that it would do well in the theaters. Of course a year later, a little movie called the matrix came out and proved them wrong. there are even similarites in the costume in the movie and matrix 2&3. the movie is awesome (starring Christian Bale - pre batman) and has a great cult following. if you like the matrix, the is even better in some respects.

This year wasn't devoid of good music...I haven't been able to afford to buy enough CDs to truly say the best albums, but The Mars Volta, Nine Inch Nails, Sigur Ros and A Silver Mt Zion all released incredible albums. Steven Wilson (of Porcupine Tree) released a limited edition of his latest album (which won't be truly released until 2009) but it's mind-blowingly amazing and you can kinda consider it an 08 release. There is always good music being put out, it's just sometimes hard to find.

Album of the year because what else has come out this year? honestly, what else has come out this year that you could compare this too? also, this album, very differnt style, they've done something new and interesting, and with that they were able to create a whole album with this new style and keep the sound consistent yet different. every song is clearly different than the last, but you can tell that they all belong to this album. it's fun to listen to and it has a versitile sound.

I went and measured my batch of d20s (Mostly from Chessex). Some of them are "egg-shaped" by as much as 0.4 mm (+- 0.1) or about 2%. Even the best ones were 0.2 mm off. The side that is favored also varies significantly. I never knew. One of them has the 1-20 as narrowest point (don't tell my DM) :). Cool video.

it would be better for both of you to apply to study abroad at Oxford or Cambridge then transfer to show that you can handle the courses and have attended prestigious universities. I'm not talking about a crappy summer course - I'm speaking of the semester or year long programs. I took the year long program at Oxford, and it was amazing. HIghschool education in the USA is pretty crappy. I studied in the British/English system all up till I went to American University. The problem is American highschool curriculum is soo watered down nobody really learns anything serious. What's worse, students are allowed to choose what they want to learn. In highschool, I was required to study all 10 subjects which guaranteed that I understood basic and fundamental scientific concepts. That's how people here actually come-up intelligent design

One could extrapolate that another country could work as a sender/receiver distance. People have reported such incidents.
