I don't think it made a saint out of Milk. It celebrated his accomplishments, but the film didn't forget his faults. The movie showed when it came to his relationships, Milk always seemed to rush into them. He picked up Scott (James Franco) on a subway platform and after 2 min of conversation slept with him and became his lover. A drunk Jack (Diego Luna) shows up on his door step and they immediately sleep together and enter a relationship. The film was incredibly realistic I thought.

I think this movie was fantastic, it's right on with the real world. Every family has a little disfunction in it, but what people don't pay attention to is most families have so much that they cannot be together happily without disputing each other... I think Wes depicts families as what they truly are, but at the same time he leaves you thinkin no way, why tha hell would they do that, he keeps you on your toes but keeps you laughing and disbelieving the whole time, beautiful!

I could not agree with Lorenzo more. Lorenzo, you snatched the words right out of my mouth! Wes Anderson is meant to be enjoyed as a metaphor, a fantasy, a fetishization of reality itself. That is his unique genius... he is not meant to be taken in a political or historical realism context.

Agreed, he was a bit of a turd in this one- he was quite a bit more insulting to Marcia than usual (usually its only one or two off-color comments or jabs). I also think its a bit naive of him to say all that is needed is for women to write the scripts they want to see. He KNOWS the movie business & knows how difficult it is to get even good original writing & scripts by anyone. Even if its a good script, they can reject it, or they will edit it to death until its typical Hollywood crap.

I love the reviews. Dont agree with this one. I thought the women were very fleshed out Jason Segel is a man. Most men write from the male perspective. All the characters are real, Sarah Marshall isnt evil she's real, same with Peter. He pushed her away. Everyone is essentially a good person who makes bad choices. I liked it.

I'm a 21 year old male, and I love good witty dialogue in a film, it's what keeps me interested, there doesn't have to be sex on the screen to keep younger people in the seats, not all of us are as immature as marcia seems to think, and can enjoy a film simply for the witty dialogue and awkward situations. I don't see how a male director and writer can effectively make a movie from a female perspective. It's an unfair expectation to have considering that all the movies from the Apatow camp has been from a male perspective, which I find interesting because it shows the vulnerability and feelings of guys for a change.
