But the movie is true to the show. It's one of the most accurate film adaptations of anything (book, cartoon, etc.) I've ever seen. This movie didn't do well because people didn't bother to see it, or stuck with their preconceptions.

Some people came with wrong expectations about the movie because of the Wachowski Bros. This is not like a Matrix film. I really liked the visual style of the movie and it also shows that the Bros. are good in a wide variety of styles.

Probably why it flopped. Also, this movie tried to appeal to today's kids instead of the ones who grew up in the late 60s and 70s. Doesn't work. At least it wasn't as bad as that American-produced SR cartoon from the early 90s. Absolutely awful!!!

theres mic problems with the drum set like welshpunk siad and when your sitting down your lungs are fully expanding. like when you run and are out of breath u hear not to bend over and try to catch your breath cuz your lungs wont expand fully. so singing like that wont sound as good. but while recording travis could sing if he had a good enough voice. but to sing live... theres some problems with that.

Yeah, no... Not really how it works. Usually when they go into the studio they do tracks, where vocals, and guitar, and drums are all on different tracks. So they don't interfere with each other, and don't pick up any outside noises besides. So if the drummer sings, there will be a track just for him. See how that works?

Loved the tv series; loved the movie. I believe the cartoon was the very first time "Bullet Time" was used, something the Wachowski Brothers made famous in the Matrix. View from exactly one minute into this opening theme song, when he leaps out of the Mach 5 and the "camera" rotates around his heroic stance with the car behind him. They replicated this in the movie at the end of the Togasa Team race. Very cool.

i like the pilot animation along with the mix 3d/2d effects they add, the character designs on the pilot were horrible though especially when molly bares her teeth with the exception of sul's design which looks cooler than that of the anime's

I am a child of the 1960's and my parents listened to Danny Davis and the Nashville Brass when I was growing up. It wasn't until years later that I learned that the english-languange theme to Speed Racer was performed by them. After that, it wasn't until about 2 years ago that I heard the original Japanese version and realize how cool it was :-D
