Uhhhh ... history? I lived through it. Inflation fell year after year after year. Gold was dropping like a rock against the dollar. It was even worse after the 1987 stock market crash. Gold lost hundreds and hundreds in value. Inflation is much more complicated, than what's going on with the price of gold.
