Dark Wave is an umbrella term used for the "gothic" rock of the 80's (which was band such as Bauhaus, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Sisters Of Mercy)... and the 90's version of the new wave/post-punk movements. If you want to get TECHNICAL it's all Dark Wave. Goth really didn't make it out of the 80's alive and in either case it was a part of Dark Wave (Goth wan't even used globally originally, it was UK's version of France's Cold Wave and Germany's Electrowave) So there, rocking song anyway!

I remember singing this in high school...the miserere mei passage is my favorite. It is a beautiful piece often overshadowed by Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus. But Byrd is a true motet man and I can't think of any other composer I would rather sing a capella to in a quartet. Pilkington's "Rest Sweet Nymphs" is also a lovely piece, as is Orlando Gibbon's "The Silver Swan". Thank you for posting this recording. It really is all about appreciating the music!

However, the problem is that many of the Gitmo detainees were not obviously enemy combatants. They were accused of assisting a terrorist organization. You could accuse any one of us of assisting a terrorist organization. If being accused of that means you don't get a trial to let you argue otherwise, then there is basically no habeas corpus right. Hey Kori Hoshi....Concert Chorus is better than Bella Voce!!! J/k j/k. LoL I'm totally ad-libbing that second Ex Maria, cuz the Alti and Mezzi really don't mesh well on those notes, it sounds like someone dying. I think we did well in concert though, the judges seemed to like it. But us Alti felt like men singing some of those low notes.... 3 huzzahs to Francis Poulenc, who apparently was either tone deaf or had a sick sense of humor. Or maybe he was just drunk when he worte this.

The piece is relatively easy to study compared to Pater Noster(Latin for Our Father)which is killer. What's hard is trying to achieve the atmosphere of the composition and trying to do justice to it. I should've known; it was late when I listened to it. The Cambridge Singers is a fine ensemble, but nothing beats Trinity, in my humble opinion. Either way, Poulenc is a genious - my favourite composer! Thanks for posting.
