Thanks for the really informative replies :D She had an MRI scan, and is being referred to a neuro radiologist (I think I spelled that wrong). They said there are drugs that will help her alot. Thanks again.

...Your family has the right to ask questions and challenge doctors. My doctors (except for the GP) appreciate when I ask many questions, so do the same! I hope that helps and I wish your sister to be well. She is lucky to have a brother who cares. M

...Your sister does have symptoms that are common in both MS and Lupus. I think that MS might be easier to rule out if she had a brain scan. the MRI is the best way to know if there are multiple lesions on the brain. If you have any doubt about her diagnosis, you should perhaps go along with her to the next doctor visit. Ask the doctor can it be MS instead, and find out how they diagnosed Lupus. My best advice is to be assertive with her doctors.

Hi, Firstly, I am not a doctor, so I am not qualified to give medical advice. I do a lot of research on MS and medicine in general. I know that Lupus does affect many systems of the body, including the nervous system. Lupus is hard to diagnose because it mimics many other diseases. I have read that Lupus cause inflamation in the body, which is what MS does also. (cont...)

[continued from previous] When she recieves mild pain, the area would get very hot and a bit numb, she says this has only been occuring recently. Should I suggest her to get checked next time she's at the doctors? Or am I overreacting? She has the sweetest heart, and she's only 23..

Hi, I was hoping you can shed some light on this situation.. My sister, earlier this year, was diagnosed with hyperactive auto-immunity, and as a result, she was later diagnosed with Lupus.. I have been worried, far before she was diagnosed with Lupus, that she may have MS. Ever since her early teens, she started stuttering, and still does 'alot'. She gets tired very easily, out of breath, and recently she's been telling my mum about how when she recieves mild pain [continued in reply]

Marlo - May I suggest that for your very long life ahead that you go for the DMD that is both Proven & Available ? I am referring to Tysabri, something I await myself (some day soon it will be available for Crohns, which I have long suffered from). Other DMDs are better known to the Docs, as they are on the market for eons, but they are vastly inferior. In any case, keep your head up.
