I agree. He was unguardable for many years. Kareem never gets credit for rebounding but he did lead the league in rebounding and had many years where he averaged over 16 boards a game. He also had years where he blocked over 4 shots a game and altered God knows how many.

In Jabbars era he faced the greatest centers of alltime. Lanier, Unseld, Wilt, Gilmore all had great power and size. Others like Bob MCaDoo, Dan Issel, Elvin Hayes and Dave Cowens had great speed and mobility. They could go outside and shot the ball from 20 feet out. Players in the 70s were very athletic.

I have to disagree with you that they were way better. I wouldnt dispute that Russell was probably better defensivley but I dont know if Wilt was better at all let alone way better. They all were factors defensivley. Jabbar was able to block/alter so many shots without getting in foul trouble that often. I remember a game where Kareem block Julius Erving`s shot 3 times in the last 2 minutes to win the game and Doc blew up in the post game interiew he said " he`s ft tall what do you expect

Kareem was able to score anytimne he wanted but he always played for the team. He didnt play for stats or personal recognition. When they banned the dunk in college it made him an even better player because it improved his touch around the basket and his hook shot. He was a combination of Wilt and Russell.
